GeneSeek Identity Management Services
GeneSeek Identity Management Services (GIMS) focuses on two programs, Trace-Back and Parentage. GIMS integrates sample collection, DNA information and informatics to enable enhanced decision making in food safety, breeding and bio-security.
Cost effective GIMS Programs for bovine and porcine samples are offered using SNP (single nucleotide polymorphism) markers. For other species, microsatellite markers are available to accomplish the same goals.
The GeneSeek Identity Management Services are divided into two programs: Seek-Trace for trace-back and Seek-Sire for parentage analysis.
Seek-Trace
Trace-Back Program for Beef and Pork.
Seek-Trace can address trace-back needs across the entire production to consumer pipeline. Seek-Trace enables management of the origin, movement and identity of each animal or plant through the entire supply, demand and consumption chain. A powerful set of DNA markers are used to identify a unique sample, and in conjunction with date of processing, facility or PREMISE ID, any animal can be traced with the help of custom informatics solutions. While trace-back has been a desirable solution for many years, high DNA testing costs have limited widespread adoption. But now, for the first time, new advances in DNA technology allow us to provide Seek-Trace for as low as $5 per sample. This translates to a fraction of end-value. Food safety through DNA-based Identity Management is a reality!
Seek-Sire
Parentage and Sire Identification Program for Cattle, Swine, Sheep and Goats.
Seek-Sire is created for ranches, breeders and breed-associations who need to manage their herd's pedigrees in a highly accurate and cost-effective manner. Seek-Sire can help maintain herd-books, facilitate retrospective genetic improvement, and manage herd performance and quality. With new low costs of DNA testing, Seek-Sire is now affordable for all needs!
